Okay, well the last week has really made me think of this a lot.
My grandma is about to turn 75 years old, and for the last few months my family has been planning a surprise birthday party for her. over 100 people were invited, and it was Sunday. We rented a hall and we had balloons and two huge cakes and everyone brought a dish, and family from across the united states that we haven't seen in years came, it was so neat!

My cousin Beth even made a dvd/slideshow, it had 355 pictures on it, ranging from 1901-2007. The beginning was pictures of my grandma and grandpa (he is now dead) and their 6 kids, and the song was "remember when" by alan jackson, and I cried lol because of this verse:

Remember when the sound of little feet
was the music
We danced to week to week
Brought back the love, we found trust
Vowed we'd never give it up
Remember when
---------------------

it's just so sweet, they had 6 kids and i bet that's totally how it was! The song was so perfect for them, they have an amazing love story. They met at a skating rink when she was 16 and they fell in love and got married and had 6 kids and lived on a farm. My mom said they were best friends, they never went to functions where the whole family wasn't invited, it was always the 8 of them. & about 22 years ago, my grandpa got hep c (from drinking i suppose, my family has bad livers) and got really sick and went into the hospital, everyone was at the hospital and he was in a coma and the doctor said "things are looking up, you guys should go home and rest" but my grandma wouldn't leave his side. She stayed there and everyone else left to go shower, ect. While everyone was gone, she fell asleep while holding his hand.. and when they got back they found them like that, and he had passed away!

to me, that's the most romantic thing i've ever heard! they were best friends, and to me, he was waiting to go until they were alone, and he died while holding his best friends hand. (this might sound silly to you but im sitting here crying lol) anyway, back to my story.. i cried during the dvd and that's pretty much all. i just felt like telling their love story lol i think it's amazing. im in a hurry now because we're going out to breakfast, so i'm going to cut it short, but if you read it all, thanks Laughing

That is a wonderful story Terra! I'm glad you shared.
My grandpa went through almost the same as Bratz' grandpa did. He had prostate cancer, and was cured from that and he died at home in the living room (on a hospital bed, we knew it was coming) and that night all 5 of my grandparents girls (didn't have sons) stayed over that night and my mom and one of her twin sisters woke up and went to his side and held his hand, and watched him take his last breath. He passed away Thanksgiving morning in 2002.
He had other cancers as well, but it was the kidney failure an other organs that actually killed him.

Awh Terra. That's beautiful. I love grandparents. Especially ones who are so cute together & you can tell they're still so in love.

Crying or Very sad I miss my grandma.

She was on blood thinners, & she fell one day, & got a bloody nose. It wouldn't stop, & she passed out. My grandpa found her & rushed her to the hospital. She coded & they brought her back.. But she was in a coma. She lost so much blood & had such a lack of oxygen when she coded, that even if she came out of her coma, she would have been a vegetable. My family decided it would be best to take her off the machines & just let her go peacefully. My grandpa, & their 3 kids (my mom, aunt, & uncle) all sat by her side. They said it would only take a few hours for her pass on, but it took over 24 hours! In the last hour, the nurse said it might help if they talk to her, & tell her it was okay to let go. So my mom told me that my grandpa got up, took her hand, leaned down & kissed her forehead & said, "It's ok to let go, Ginny. We're all here with you. I love you." & She died less than an hour later.

Crying or Very sad

oh my god krissy, that totally brought tears to my eyes.

me and my grandma have this "love hate relationship" of course we don't really hate each other lol but we'll be fighting one minute and the nex we'll be joking around. i also like to take her and lay her on the ground and tickle her because she can't do anything about it hahaha it's awesome.

we had a great day today, we all went out to breakfast and then we went out to their old farm where my aunts and uncles grew up. it was so neat, a huge field and a cute house, it was bigger than what i thought, but there's so much history. i can totally picture my young grandma and grandpa living there and raising their 6 kids, i love it. im going to try to find a picture of my grandma when she was young, she was hotttttttttt. haha.

lol I would love to have 6 kids. I know that it won't happen though, it's more expensive to raise kids than it was back then. I would just love to have 6 kids and raise them and have them be close and have big get togethers and cook outs and have a huge family one day like my grandma does. I think it's so neat. Maybe one day Tommy and I will have 2, and then we'll try for another and get triplets or something Laughing
