Q: Pregnancy After Kidney Donation

I would like to know if it makes a difference which kidney you donate when you are considering trying to conceive. I am 34 years old without any previous pregnancies. I donated my left kidney earlier this year. I just read that a women donated her right kidney since that is the one that is most stressed during pregnancy. Please explain.

Thank you.

Hi
What an honorable thing for you to do. It makes me cry with tears of happiness to know there are people in this world such as yourself, unselfish and giving. I have no idea about the kidney question, just wanted to tell you I think what you did by donating was wonderful. Hope there are more people out here who will consider donating organs! God Bless you! I hope you have all the babies you want, because you deserve them! Cool

Thank You....
Thank you Fairy*Godmother:)!
(What a neat name)

I appreciate your kind words. Donating to my husband was an easy decision. Actually, I think the "real heroes" are the people that donate to a complete stranger. I must admit I wish there wasn't a shortage of living organ donors. The waiting list for organ can take years and years. Too long for too many people Sad!!!

As for being able to conceive....I have been told it won't be a problem....but we still have a wait ahead of us. I am 34 but I really don't the hear my biological clock ticking....so much these days. We have only been married a little over three years. Feels longer with everything that has happened. Anyway, we are still very much adjusting to life after transplant which is joyous but stressful with many highs and lows along the way.

Best of health to you!!!!

Veggiegirl Smile!!!
