Q: Please Help!

I have been on the depo-provera birth control shot for about four months now and I had sex, with no condoms, last saturday with my bf. Its been a week now and I have been freaking out wondering if I am pregnant. I tend to worry a lot so maybe what I am feeling is not pregnancy but im still scared. My stomach has been upset, I have been having headaches and I have been feeling a little dizzy. I just noticed yesterday that I have been having this discharge. When can I take a pregnancy test and will it be accurate? Please someone help.

Hello,

did you missed your period??? If you did then your alright to take a test soon as possible. I dont think freaking out is going to help anything at all. I suggest you to do it soon as possible again. And let us know.

With my birth control shot, depo-provera, I don't get periods, but I have started to spot just today and it's been 11 days since I had sex. I am going to the doc sometime to get a pregnancy test but I don't know exactly when I should get it since I don't get periods. Does anyone know when I should take a test?

When my friends were on depo and sexually active they all and I do mean all of them regularly took hpt before getting their next shots. Most dr order the test before they give the shot. You can take a hpt as soon as you miss your regular cycle. With depo i'd take one at least before every shot.

If you have been on depo for over one month then your chances of getting pregnant are less than 2 percent. Most women on depo do not have periods, or if they do, they only have one every 11-12 weeks. I really do not think you need to worry about being pregnant, I have only seen 1 person get pregnant while on depo, and she was taking the standard dose but weighed nearly 2 times more than the recommended weight for the shot.
