hi there. I'm going to keep to the subject as much as possible here, but its a bit of a long story. Please bear with me.

Firstly. I am 20 years of age (female) with a healthy, active lifestyle. I'm an ex-smoker and do not drink except family oocassions such as birthdays. So not even once a month. I do not do any drugs or any other activity that may effect my symptoms.

Basically, about 5 months ago I decided to join a gym as my friend said she didnt want to go on her own. Under the gym's trainer's instructions we took it easy the first couple of days, not really doing much to strain but working up to it. On the second day I was walking (not running, just walking) on a machine when I suddenly had the most severe pains in my anus and abdomen, it was as if i had been stabbed, it was so bad i fell onto the floor and was taken to an office where the gym's first aider looked after me. I was told by her that i had 'overdone it' and to go home and get some rest. So i did. 5 days went by, i couldnt walk, couldnt move, it was painful and kept me up all night, it was like waves over my abdomen (no longer in my anus) and i rang the NHS and talked to my mum (who studied biology) and came to the conclusion that i had pulled a muscle. Eventually the pain lessened so i could return to my normal activities, but it was still there, worsened with moving (especially running or bouncy movements) i went to the doctor, and he said i had 'twisted an ovary' and that i should not go to the gym again. I no longer go to that doctor as he didnt examine me at all and gave me the poorest excuse for my pain. I started to notice it got worse at certain times, for example needing to go to the loo would cause me crippling pain, and passing stool (sometimes urine) would leave me unable to walk. Again i visited another doctor, who pressed in various places on my stomach and told me he it probably wasnt anything serious as i am so young, so to just take a medicine which treats gas. It is not working, and now I found blood in the toilet yesterday (bright pink) when i went. I feel awful, i have terrible pains, feel bloated and sick (never been sick, just feel it) i am always tired and dizzy, but when i went back for blood and urine tests (which all came back fine) the doctor told me again he didnt want to do any tests for cancer or suchlike as he doubted it was that because i am so young, so he gave me some drugs which stop the acid being produced in my stomach. again it did nothing. I have a history of cancer in the family, and im worried because of the blood. I looked it up on the internet and i think it may be an anal fissure, but i dont know what to do. if i go back to the doctor again, im sure that he will just give me more drugs for gas or something which i know it is not. Any advice? Anybody had similar problems? I'm very upset and have cried so much over this. Thankyou for reading.

First of all you are never to young for cancer. Make then do test on you. Tell them you have a family history of cancer.. I don't think it is cancer, because it usually doesn't hurt. But the blood is somthing I would have checked out. There should not be blood without a reason.. Don't let them just cover it up tell them you want tests to determind where the blood is coming from..

i went to a doctor today, but they said i had to register to be seen, i walked all the way home and back to get ID and filled in their forms and waited only to be told i couldnt be seen until they had processed my application. i went to a walk-in centre where the very sympathetic nurse was very kind, she told me it sounded like a number of things, but just to be sure she told me to go to the emergency GP at the hospitals' A&E department tonight. Im scared about this, i dont want to be taking up their time if its nothing serious, but if it turns out to be a fissure or something similar, where do i go from there? im just feeling a little depressed about this now.

Follow it up, it could be nothing at all, but at least you know. I was 25 when I was dismissed by the doctor with a "fissue", at 30 a different GP referred me for a colonoscopy and they found stage 2 colon cancer. Wish I had followed it up more when I was 25 as chemo was horrible and i could possibly have avoided it with early detection. Good luck and follow up your own instincts. Second opinon and a colonoscopy.
