I am not saying put a limit on children.. I am saying put a limit on who can have them.. Some people just shouldn't have children. It shows. I think that everyone should have some basic knowledge and should have to take a course before they can have children. I think that too many people have children because 'they can' and there are not enough good parents in this world. I think something should be done. I really do. I don't think whats happening right now is RIGHT... Its terrible. I watch the news and our world is turning to crap and I think that if it was regulated then we would live in a better place

I know for myself my mother didn't explain SEX to me. I had that class in like 5th grade where they handed out condoms, and tampons whatever. But i was not shown what can happen from sex, either being STD's, or pregnancy. I don't know if that's the truth with kids, or women these days. More so for the younger crowd. You shold know by 18+ where babies come from, and STD's. I was afraid to ask my mother for BC because then she would know i was having sex. I don't know if that's the right choice or not. Getting a fake ID, or whatever you would get for that would i'm sure be just as easy toget as one for drinking, or driving. But maybe i'm wrong. It's been a long time since i needed a fake Twisted Evil

personally i have a cousin that is the absolute stereotype of a private school girl.. completely secluded from the outside world so that she stays completely innocent..... including her mind.... she knows nothing of sex std's and what-not... and that is wrong; and personally a little selfish of the parents to seclude her like that and then to expect her to make it in the outside world.... the world is revolved around sex and sexual pleasures... we just have to get used to that; it isn't never going to change...

I know girls like that too- and they are often the ones who end up having abortions, because they have no idea how to keep from getting pregnant (such as, you can't get pregnant if she's on top!!)

We need to be educated!!

yes... i agree completely with you on that one... we do need to be educated. otherwise you go into the world blindsighted and end up making stupid decisions because you don't knwo any better because of your uneducated-ness.... but also, i don't belive that she woud ever get an abortion for two reasons......

1. i don't see her having sex..... EVER!!!! she's so unsure of men because she doesn't know anything about them, therefore she doesn't understand them, sex, etc.

2. she's an EXTREME christian... if it goes against her beliefs, then she's nto going to do it...... abortion, as far as i have been told, if very much so against christian beliefs

Actually Armywife there are plenty of churches who support a womans right to choose. This ought to give you some perspective on the religious side of things.

Armywife, all it takes is one smooth talking young man to get to the innocent, sheltered girl.

ahh well that is interesting topic..I wonder on the effectiveness of it. It's not common practice in my country, but I had good friend who was doing homeshooling on kids but I know he did socialize them with youth groups at church..

I knew a guy who was homeschooled I met him when he was at college and he was pretty good guy..he never drank a beer in his life and you know he seemed to have no intention of ever doing it. He had very solid beliefs. Anyways the guy is very decent and he end up with phD..

I guess you can homeschool and tell them what is out there..

Homeschooling is as good or as bad an experience as you choose to make it. My cousin has 8 kids (and she is pl....imagine that Razz ) and she has homeschooled all her kids. She belongs to a hs co-op where the kids come together with other hs kids for subjects like science and music and they also go on fieldtrips as a co-operative group. She also makes sure the kids are involved in sports and many extra-curricular activities like dance, art, and martial arts. Her oldest took the ACT's and was in the top 5% in the country. He is now a sophmore in college. She chose hs as a way to have a hands on knowledge of what the kids were learning and how they were doing.
The down side to hs is there are parents out there so afraid of the "real" world and so afraid to expose their kids to anything outside their own little world....that these kids don't get socialized at all....and therefore have a hard time entering the real world as adults.
I have seen both sides of the coin...and as I said....the experience can be as good or as bad as the motives behind the parents teaching it.

That pure and innocent is a detriment in todays high sex, high crime, high violence society. Do they intend to lock her in the house once she graduates or do they have her life preplanned for her? Marriage to a 'suitable' man and no experience?

yes; i believe that htey have her life all planned out for her and all; at least, last i heard they did....

something along htose lines; she's destined to come across a wonderful guy whom the parents are picking out or what not.... and she's going to become a nurse because it's a good paying job and her parents want her to do it.

This is actually sad to read,. In todays world to plan out a childs life for them is criminal!! I'd never plan my girls' lives for them; I raised (am raising) them to be strong smart self reliant women able to make their own decisions and deal with their own mistakes.
I am here for them to give advice and education; to be their mother and their friend; the person they feel comfortable talking about their problems with. It isn't my job to control them.

If your friend becomes a nurse she will see up close and personal many things her parents don't want her to know about and it will be a terrible shock. What will she do when she is brought a little girl who has been raped and is bleeding? What will she do when someone tries to force their way into a patients room to finish what they started? when she has to deal with the results of drunk driving and the driver is being treated for superficial wounds in the next room?
She will be faced with the human condition at its worst. This shelter her idea is only going to cause problems later.
