Hi...I was diagnosed at age 15 with sle. I am now 48. I have always had kidney involvement with this disease and have a tendency to spill alot of protien.

I've had 4 biopsies and dxd with proliferative glomunuer??? (can't spell right?) I am right now at +5 grams of protien per 24 hours. My Aunt says shes at +615 per 24 hours. She has diabetis.

My question is~~~~all these years of having lupus I never quite understood what is considered high amounts of protien for lupus nephritis. Can someone please explain this to me??
My doc says anything over 3+ is significant and am waiting on another kidney biopsy. But if mine is only 5+ grams and my aunts is at 615+ grams...shouldn't I be in pretty good shape??

Seems like my protien level is very low compared to hers' ...yet my doc says i'm in pretty bad shape kidney wise.......

Help answer this anyone??? Thank you Kim Rolling Eyes

Hi
actually we're both in the same situation. but my doctor said that anything over a 1 gram is pretty bad . it is not normal at all to be spilling protein.

by the way kim, you said u`re over 40 yrs. old .. just wondering if you have any kids and did you have normal birth ? im just curious because thats one my frustrations right now with this sickness . thank you .
