I would
definitely report the nurse. She clearly had no idea what she was doing. I know from experience that IV flushing can be very painful, even to a catatonic patient. My grandfather was unconscious after an operation this winter. A nurse accidentally put two IVs on the same injector and not only did his heart rate, pulse, and blood pressure increase, but he visibly grimaced and tried to move. She pulled it out immediately, as she realized it was a mistake. She didn't keep doing it over and over again
I don't think there will be any lasting physical harm from it, but mentally I do hope that your daughter can overcome this. I'm sure it was very painful. If you can get that nurse reported and have actions taken, that may help your daughter.
