Q: Pain caused by kidney stones or something else?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on August 4th, 2007
I went to the hospital last Sunday, had a cat scan, and the dr told me I had a kidney stone that was 1/4 of the way down. Bad news, there is another on the same side. Pain re-occured tonight on the other side, but same pain, every 1/2 hr for 4 hrs so far. Could this be kidney stones or something else?

Kidney Conditions Answer A3242
If the pain you are experiencing is similar to the first where kidney stone was detected, it could be due to another kidney stone or could be a pain that is reflected from the first side where the stone was detected. You can request an ultrasound examination of the abdomen for a correct diagnosis.
