Q: Should I test for HIV?

I had unprotected sex with a woman for about 2 mins, later her husband later tested positive for HIV, but she did not in subsequent two tests that she had done.

Can I be positive, do I need testing.

Basically, you are playing the percentages game here. When exactly were her HIV tests?

Option 1: Assume that you had very little risk, based on her tests and her "history" of not having sex with her husband for 8-10 years.

Option 2: Get tested 6 weeks out and another at 3 months if you wish for active infection.

Option 1 is little hassle with HIV always on the back of your mind.
Option 2 will be a small amount of a hassle and a bit of money, but with increase peace of mind.

Good luck to you, keep us informed.

Thanks ScubaSteve for your reply.

I have already given my samples and I am waiting for the results to be back.

I had this contact in Jan 2005, her husband testsed positive in dec 2005 and she was tested negative during the same time.

She went thru other test in Mar-May 2006 which was again negative.

So fingers crossed, and waiting impatiently for the results. Sad

I know the result will be fine, considering the above, but like you said its a worry in the back of the mind.
