Q: Asthma Treatment

My boyfriend has had asthma since he was little. For a while it got better, but since we have moved into our new house he has been using his inhaler multiple times per day. When he used to go to the doctor, they would often try to clear up his congestion by hitting his back with these things that looked like suction cups. Apparently they break up the phlegm in your lungs so you cough it up. Given the fact that his asthma has been so bad recently, I think this kind of treatment would be helpful. Does anyone know what these are called or if there is a way to purchase them somewhere?
