Well, this morning I was attempting to get ready for work. Brandon went to tell the dogs outside to shut up and when he got out there he hollered for me to come out there and help. We have two dogs and his parents are staying with us right now and they have two as well. We don't have a fence right now so they were all tied up on leads to play and go potty. Two of the dogs had gotten their leads wrapped around my pik-a-poos neck. Brandon literally took the leads and stretched them apart until I got out there. She wasn't breathing and was completely limp when he found her but as soon as he removed the cables she gasped for air. He got the other dogs in while I tended to here. She couldn't walk, was hyperventilating and would only keep her neck in one position and she was still as limp as a rag. We rushed her to the vet. On the way there her breathing slowed down some thankfully and she started moving around a little more. We got to the vet and they gave her oxygen therapy and a neuro exam, as well as a steroid shot to help the breathing and swelling. Her neuro exam was fine and amazingly there was no damage to her trachea. The doc said it seemed to just cut off the blood flow instead of strangle her so we were very lucky. She is doing great now but she is still very tired and very scared of going outside even if she is not on a leash. After tonight she is going to stay with my parents who have a fence until we move into the new house that already has a fence. I'm just so glad she's okay because I could never forgive myself if anything had happened to her. It all just happened so fast though. She has spent the entire day with me. We even took her to Sonic with us and bought her a little hamburger patty so she has definitely been treated like a queen since that happened today.
