Haha meblonde =) Ya you probably think I'm a dork or an fool or something. But I'll make a fool out of myself sometimes to even try at a sad attempt of a tension breaker.

But I think there is enough substantial evidence to prove that Jesus has at one point existed as a human at least. Whether or not he walked on water, or that he is the son of God (etc based on the religious context), or if he was just some drunkard player getting all the ladies during the times of 4 B.C., etc, who knows. So much time has past by, there pretty much has to be guaranteed that the facts were muddled over time. Texts were primitive, scribes were rare, the few who recorded his existence throughout the centuries are still just human, so there is a good chance something went wrong. Could be a careless typo of a sleepy scribe, or a revised story for some learned man to tell his children that became popular, or the perspectives of a philosophical man who wished to spread his thoughts to the rest of the world, so many possibilities brought about by human perspective/error. I'm only talking about Jesus and what we "know" of him, nothing about the religions concerning him.

this movie may have some wrong points in it but it does show how christianity is a plagerised idea.

also google "the pharmacratic inquisition" it shows how religions could be based on entheogenic plantlife

What?
I don't quite understand what made you say, "If you don't want people to reply to you, don't post here." I don't think you were talking to me because why would I ask you a question but not want you to reply. That doesn't seem to make sense. You know what's hilarious though... you're hypocritical beyond belief. You tell me not to flaunt my opinion like it's fact, but then you flaunt your opinion like it's fact. Think about it.... also, I'm still wondering how come you haven't replied to my post titled "Wow..."? You haven't said anything in regard to that. But I really am geniunely wondering why?

Yay birch, join me on randomness =)

hey uuh gchurch, no need to continue the arguing man. This is a Is Jesus Real topic. You are going to stick with your beliefs, she will stick with hers, neither of you are going to budge, so arguing won't do anything at all. No point in being childish by trying to get the last word, somebody has to end it. Just my opinion though. Let's get back to the original topic...

So yea, Jesus is cools... can anybody continue?

You can believe in the big bang and evolution at the same time. Believing in evolution is not, in itself, going against the belief in God.

So how come people who believe in God get so upset when people try to prove or argue for evolution? I just don't get it.

I think this is a very disrespectful thing to say. There are millions of christians and by u saying this u r completely disrespecting and bashing their believes. You can believe whatever you want to, but to call jesus a schizophrenic is just completely ignorant and disrespectful. And u shouldnt say that if you believe yourself to be an intelegent person.

^^^^by all standards today jesus WOULD be labelled a schizoprenic. if a guy with long hair and a beard was walking around saying he was the son of god the cops would have him in a little room by himself straped down to a bed for the rest of his life in no time at all. theres no real evidence to prove he was real so its the same as saying any character out of a book was schizoprenic. those same millions of christians wouldnt hesistate to push there beliefs onto you so who cares

Eh, he is just expressing his beliefs, he didn't force it onto anybody did he (I read it briefly).
Diamond, I think its a interesting thought, but what proof do you have of this? This notion wouldn't be much to consider without some foundation you are basing this off of. Certainly as you and the lady above me commented, if such a person were to announce such a thing today, they would be dragged into the mental institution (even if he really was Jesus, since he is suppose to resurrect one day). Then those poor white coat psychologists and doctors would probably get zapped by force lightning from Jesus for their idiocy =)

There is no historical proof that Jesus thought of himself as "the savior" of mankind. That's all hearsay.

Are you saying that if millions of people believe in something, it shouldn't be questioned at all? How does that relate to prolife or prochoice advocates? Neo-nazi's? Racists?

Or is the belief in Jesus above questioning?

Why is it disrespectful? If you look at the mental qualities of many of the characters from that part of the bible, schizophrenia fits very well. Heck, Mary Madgaline had epilepsy.

It's not ignorant or disrespectful; it is simply a different way of looking at things, using modern psychology.

Sure...why not? Which historical sources have (other than the Bible) verified his presence? Didn't the Romans record his birth and execution, for example?

I don't actually think Jesus of Nazareth is in any Roman records.

Interesting.
I'm just trying to figure out where you guys get all your information. One thing that doesn't seem to make sense though is if Jesus was just a man, and his disciples knew that then why would they be willing to die for something like that if they knew it wasn't something that was real. It seems pretty illogical to me. Also, just because Jesus MIGHT not be in any Roman records are you saying He might not have even existed. If so... how come the Romans records are superior to other records? Also, if you look at what Josephus, one of the most well known historians of that day even knew that Jesus existed. There are countless examples in history of Jesus being a real person, and plenty of examples that point to Him being the Son of God. Also, what traits make the people of that time of the Bible make them look schizophrenic? I just think people should do a little more reading before and find out for themselves before they go and start preaching stuff that they have heard from someone else.

You mean the Testimonium Flavianum? Authenticity debated for hundreds of years.

I used to work in a psych hospital. If Jesus came through the doors he would have been admitted and given Seroquel. Incidentally, Jesus did come through the doors several times a month.

How utterly ironic.
