Look people.
Those of us who have CHOSEN not to believe because of reasons that seem to use to be perfectly clear and logical.. We non-believers are really sick and f*ing tired of being preached to. Shut. Up.
We don't care. We're not "blind to the love of Jesus". Most of us were RAISED Christian, so we know as much about the religion as you do.
We are NOT bad people. We are no more likely to commit mur
der than you are. We are no more likely to steal.
We ARE more likely to allow someone the freedom to believe whatever they want. We refuse to look down upon or feel "sorry" for people who don't believe what we do (or don't) believe.
We refuse to force our beliefs on someone because we "believe it is for the better" and that they will be "better off knowing Jesus' love". If you want to believe, then do it. Just don't force it upon me. If you want to share your religion, I'd love to talk about it. But I want to talk WITH you about it, I do NOT want to be preached at.
We're sick of seeing you on street corners, messing with traffic, and yelling on our college campuses. Do you see Jewish or Buddhist or Muslim people doing that? No you don't, that's because those people have MANNERS. They don't shove pamphlets in people's faces as they walk down the street, and they don't block people from entering porn shops or women's clinics for pap smears and birth control. Christians do.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm not anit-Jesus. As I've said many times, I think Jesus was perhaps an amazing man; and at least the stories written about a man named Jesus have much to teach us.
But I do not have to BELIEVE to understand his words. I do not have to prostrate myself in fear to an angry God to understand gentleness and kindness. I, a non-believer, can comprehend the words in the Bible just as well as a devout follower can.
It is not cool. It is not benevolent. It is not, in my opinion, Christian. To constantly throw your superiority, opinions, and "grace" around is annoying, infuriating, and quite honesty makes me not respect you at all. It does not make me want to be Christian at all.
