4 Weeks Post Full Hysterectomy-falling Apart!
Posted: 03-14-04 01:34am

58 y/o. Had soft skin, shining hair, sharp mind and a fiancee. Everyone thought I was so cute! Now all is dried up (including my brain!). Face and hair are beyond dry. Have used every oil/conditioner/beauty product known. I refuse to see fiancee.....Lost interest in him.

Please tell me what's happening and what I need. Next appt with dr is 2 weeks but i'm dying and drying here. Thank you.

I just joined the forum today.

Anesthesia may be playing a part in the dryness. It always happens to my hair after surgery and my skin gets dry. It may take a few months to return to normal. My daughter inlaw is a hair stylist. She says that using baking soda or vinegar as a rinse will help strip the anesthesia out and any medicines that might be contributing. I did this after shampooing and before conditioning. Leave conditioner in for a few minutes before rinsing. Vitamin e will help your skin and hair.

Estrogen plays a part too. Are you taking estrogen?

I would also make sure my doctor knows what is happening. Some of the symptoms you mention could also be a thyroid problem.

I hope you return to your cute self soon.
