My 29 yr old son was diagnosed with
paranoid schizophrenia over 10 years ago.
We believe it was brought on by the
drowing of his father when he was only 16.
He has heard voices, seen things, even
his deceased father. He also has grandmal
seizures.
He took himself off his medications a few
years back and has been trying to lead a
normal life. He has married and has a
young son. My son has delusions of
grandure. There are times when he feels
like everyone is after him, but now it has
settled thusly into his thinking he can do
anythig.
He recieves a small check from the
government due to his illness, but still
tries to work for his family.
He borrowed some money from a local loan
company and when they said sign, he did.
Now they have ripped him off, charging him
$1600 to borrow three. He said the place
was busy so they didn't explain it to
himl..he also says he checked the box that
asked him if it was explained to him and
he checked no.
He is having problems at work and can not
make the payments..if it weren't for me
they would be in dire straights. The
company has threaatened to garnish his
check,, which I know will through him into
a serious condition.
Has anyone out there had an experience
with a loved one who has schizophrenia and
has borrowed money not realizing what he
was doing? Can this company sue him if he
was off his medications when all this was
done?
Please help me.

I don't know exactly, but he should claim
insanity nevertheless. When they ask him
why he was off his meds he should say that
the voices told him to not take them. If
he has a copy of his agreement with the
box checked "no" that might help too.
