General Q and A Answer A3228
Poly-cystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine disorder that disturbs ovulation. One of the manifestations of PCOS is sterility. Lack of ovulation can make menstrual periods irregular. That's why Metformin and other ovulation stimulators (clomiphene, FSH, GnRH-analogs etc.) are used to treating sterility in cases of PCOS. Therapy with these medications lasts 6 months at least. “In vitro fertilization” can be also used for better chances of conceiving. Spotting is a bad sign when expecting pregnancy or during a pregnancy. Nonetheless, only a pregnancy test (blood test would be much better) can indicate pregnancy, or not.
