My gyn confirmed yesterday that I do have A typical squamous cells and that he will be doing a colposcopy soon. He also said my former boyfriend is undoubtedly a carrier. In speaking to my former boyfriend, I told him that every woman he is with sexually from now on out, he holds their lives in his hands if he doesn't use protection.

There are 8 or 9 warts on the back of my leg just below the knee and on the other leg some too. Can you get warts from the type of HPV that causes them on other parts of your body besides vaginally?

Thank you.

I know that HPV can cause both. There are tons of different strains of HPV, some cause vaginal warts, some cause cervical cancer, some just cause warts.

All warts are caused by HPV, but each strain of HPV has a particular preference for where it can occur -- for example, plantar warts only happen on the bottoms of your feet, while genital warts only occur on the genitals, and cervical HPV only occurs (you guessed it) on the cervix. The kinds of warts you have on your legs wouldn't at all affect your pap smear. Good luck with your colposcopy!
