I am 36 year old female and have been in great pain for over 3 weeks on my left side, the pain starts on the upper left side under my left ribcage in goes around to my lower bottom left side, sometimes it radiates to my rectum? The doctor has done a couple of test, all but 1 has come back but the other 2 were negative. The lypase has not come back yet, that will measure my pancrease fluids. I aslo had a couple of xrays and ct scan, came back negative also. The doctor treated me for kidney infection b/c that is what she thought it was, but it's been over a week since those meds have been completed, I must say that the pain has gone from a 10 to about a 6 but i'm still in pain, so i don't know if i could have also had a kidney infection, but i still think something else is going on. I do have another appointment next week, if I can make it until then, hopfully they can find out what the problem is, I also have many bottles of pain meds that at one point nothing worked for the pain, the only thing that caused the pain to lighten up is when I had to go to the ER and they gave me Demarol there and at least I got a chance to sleep for the few hours I was there? I'm stumped???

i have the same problems after gallbladder removal all the pain moved to my upper middle abdomen and left rib right down to my pelvis. I have not had any x-rays or scans yet but liver and pancreas was okay. so he suspected urine infection which like you altered the pain alttie. i AM NOW ON MEDICATION CALLED MOVICOL sorry for caps for my bowel it has really helped me. i never realised bowels could give you pain so far up your abdomen. I also got nexuim for acid and ulcer pain motilium to help move food along track and this seems to be helping it will take around three days to get your system moving but it does ease the pain a lot. hope you feel better soon take care Heather
