Eeep! She's going to be here in less than an hour Shocked I'm so nervous, i really want her to like me. I hope Mika wakes up soon because she woke up just before 7 for a feed and then went back to sleep in my bed so i haven't been able to get her dressed or make my bed yet and i know the housing officer will want to see my room to see how cramped it is

Good luck!

How old is Mika? That could have a lot to do with bonding. I think I've said this before but I wish people would stop saying that you'll have some instant bond with your baby. Some people do but not everyone. I know I didn't, I asked my mum about it and she said that she didn't either. I didn't feel anything much towards Chu for the first few months of his life. I had moments where I thought he was cute but that was about it. I knew that I loved him but I didn't always feel that love. Usually only when he was sleeping. Wink At first he seemed like some alien life form intent on robbing me of everything that I was. I don't think that I was fully prepared for the reality of a babies' needs. It gets easier and better the bigger they get. You actually start to sleep again which really helps. Hmmm... this is interesting... I think I'll start a post asking about it. Hang in there it gets better every day!!!

good luck danni. whatever you do, don't worry about the bonding thing. putting pressure on yourself will only make things worse. the hormones and depression are surely to blame and it has nothing to do with you not being a loving mother.

i don't know if this has anything at all to do with what you're going through or not, but babies don't have a ton of personality at first. they kind of just sleep a lot and don't interact with you now as much as they do when they get a little older and that can make them seem like they don't need you sometimes. sometimes it just takes time to get to know their personality.

even if it is taking time to bond with mika, just try to hold her and make eye contact with her. even newborns like eye and skin contact and they like to imitate your facial expressions and sometimes the sounds you make. i'm sure you know all of this as you are with her every day. i just hope you are feeling better soon.
