I am a 23 year old white male and for the past 6-8 months I have been experiencing L flank pain occuring mostly during sleep. The pain is bad enough to wake me up, but often ranges. Although not always, it seems the worst when I have to urinate badly and is sometimes, somewhat, relieved by urinating. Some mornings my L flank is "sore" from the previous night's episode. No N/V/D. No fever. No testicular pain. No painful urination. No foul odors upon urination. I have no clue! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That's what I started with. Yes, do go see a doctor. The first test I had was the IVP. It will show how well your kidneys are draining. It could be stones or obstruction. They should refer you to a urologist. Good luck.
