Q: Pain In Teeth And Tooth Turns Grey

Hi

I had 6 cavities in my teeth, 4 being really big. I had them filled with white fillings recently. They never stopped hurting though, it did get better on moments. Now theywere fixed about 2-3 months ago. The dentist did warn me that some of them the fillings reached the pulp or nerve and a root canal could be possibly necessary, be it within 2 weeks or 10 years....
Since yeseterday 1 tooth is a lot worse, 1 with a huge filling. The weird thing is that on 1 side this tooth is slightly coloring grey under the filling. Could it be that still some cavity was left and is spreading inside the tooth? If the nerve was dying, I would expect the whole tooth to turn grey and not 1 side?

I hope that anyone has an idea on this.... My problem is that I'll go travelling soon and I'm nut from the USA, no insurance but luckily I went to a dentist school which made it a little bit less crazy expensive.
I don't know what to do now... give it more tie and live on painkillers? I don't even know if I would have time to get a whole rootcanal/crown treatment before I leave...

Sigh... Thanks for reading this message
Teethproblems are really terrible, takes over your whole mind

I want to add that it can also be that I'm grinding at night.
And more teeth hurt... The pain is mostly on my left side, my 2 second to last molars up and down my mouth, but sometimes they shortly dont hurt and the other side does, the same location... all those teeth got fillings though. andd since yesterdayevening, it got a lot worse on the left side of my mouth.
the one that seems to hurt the most often is the one that has a grey area, could that be cavity further developing inside the tooth??
I hope someone can make me wiser in this.... thanks!

Hey
id go back and let them know what is going on. also you may want to get a night guard to protect your teeth and prevent you from grinding.

ok so I went to a dentist, ad he took a lot of x-rays.
The grey is from the filling, apparantly it is posisble that your toothchanges color as a reaction on the filling. Even though it is a white filling! I didn't know that, weird.
Also there are no real proofs visible that I definately need a root canal. The pain is better now, just a constat numb present pain, but it sometimes changes to other teeth, all recently filled back molars. If I want, I can get 2 root canals he says... I don't know naow what to do
On one hand, I do have huge fillings that touch the root, and the school that fixed my teeth said that at any time, I could suddenly need a root canal on any of these teeth. Be it in 2 months or 10 years. (everyone heard about that before?)
So maybe, I should just do it? What do you guys think?
thank you!

Hey
the whole purpose of filling a tooth is to prevent further decay and to prevent having root canals. that just seems strange to me. id get a good dentist and not go to a school.
