I think I got a bad staph infection on my neck from shaving but I'm not sure. it just recently got bad and I can't make it to the doc till next week. and I want to know what it is. I've got a bunch of pus filled bumps over my hairs which are ingrown. when I pop one the hair comes out with the pus. the hair seems to have a hard white coating around the entire shaft almost like a white cylinder with the hair in the middle . can anyone tell me what it probably is? bacteria or fungus? Thanks.

Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and i understand your concern. Ingrown hair needs not to be popped, poked or picked and topical mupirocin ointment should be applied over it with more care in future. VIsit a local doctor or hospital as soon as possible.

I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.
