Q: Inflammation of penis head
asked by: DoctorQuestion on July 25th, 2007
I noticed a red rash on my penis head along with a slight peeling of this skin on the head of the penis. The skin right under my penis head is red and itches very much. There is also a small lump right under the head. The itching is starting to become uncomfortable. I recently used a durex performa condom to masturbate and I think it might be an irritation. A couple of weeks ago I had a sudden rash on my face, about a week before my penis rash. Could it be the 110 F degree heat that caused the rash or is it something serious. What do you reccomend? I am desperate!!!

The description of a “red itching rash with peeling on the penis’s head” may indicate an acute inflammation (balanitis) of the penis’s head. Causes of balanitis can include infection, allergy or irritation. Irritation or allergy from a condom is also possible but you should probably first eliminate the possibility of infection. It doesn’t seem likely to me that that a “sudden face rash compounded by fever” is somehow connected with the present penis rash. Therefore, you can visit some dermatovenerologist to identify the real cause of balanitis and put your worry to rest.
