Yes, it is true that it may go away by itself.

HPV is very common. There are over 100 different types of HPV. Some types cause genital warts, some cause plantar warts, and some increase your chances of cervical cancer. HPV isn't quite as a big a deal to men since they don't have a cervix.

Your doctor does not sound concerned, and I agree with her that you probably should not be losing any sleep over this. Just make sure you keep getting your regular paps.

Sorry to hear that sweety. I was diagnosed a year ago as well. It sucks but life goes on. I do get warts Evil or Very Mad which isn't any fun but I get them treated and move on. Just always use protection all that stuff to help with the spread of infection. I usually am upfront with my partner's and usually there okay with it I just use a condom thats it.

Belle, I am now just shy of twenty eight years old. When I was fifteen, I was diagnosed with HPV. In thirteen years, I have never had a genital wart as a result. That same year however, they found abnormal vaginal cells. I had a (if I can remember the right spelling) colposcopy, where they go in and use a die to stain the inside to look for cancer or pre cancer cells, and also take a small sampling for lab testing. Luckily, I didn't have any cancer cells, and the next year, my pap results were normal. I went on to have a baby, without complication, and like I said, no warts. I am curious though, I was told that HPV is not curable (it can never be gotten rid of) but it may lay dormant in your cells and never show up again, but it is always with you. If there is a doctor that could post a reply with a factual answer, that would be great! Good luck Belle, and don't be too hard on yourself. It is so ridiculously common. Sorry that it happened to you. Smile

I too have HPV. I have had it for over 4 years now. I had some warts with mine. They froze those off, and i had what was on my cervex froze off too. I went in every 4 months for a year, and i have been clean ever since. So i have been clean for 3 years. I too was shocked, scared, and embarrased about it. Cause here my mom was with me, and she said oh well you have HPV a STD. my mom was like who you been sleeping with?!!?!? But i was with one guy only, and i know that's who i got it from. But i learned that it was so common, and i read about it. Found out my life was not over, and that i just needed to be more careful. And then they came out with the shot Rolling Eyes lol Just my luck.

But if the doc says it's mild, and not to get excited over don't stress it. I'm sure you'll be just fine!
