Belle, I am now just shy of twenty eight years old. When I was fifteen, I was diagnosed with HPV. In thirteen years, I have never had a genital wart as a result. That same year however, they found abnormal vaginal cells. I had a (if I can remember the right spelling) colposcopy, where they go in and use a die to stain the inside to look for cancer or pre cancer cells, and also take a small sampling for lab testing. Luckily, I didn't have any cancer cells, and the next year, my pap results were normal. I went on to have a baby, without complication, and like I said, no warts. I am curious though, I was told that HPV is not curable (it can never be gotten rid of) but it may lay dormant in your cells and never show up again, but it is always with you. If there is a doctor that could post a reply with a factual answer, that would be great! Good luck Belle, and don't be too hard on yourself. It is so ridiculously common. Sorry that it happened to you.
