I am a 36 yr old male.

I have had rectal bleeding for about 7 years now. On and off, more on than off. When I first had it, I went to the doctor who told me I had internal hemorrhoids, (he said they were hereditary because my dad and mom both have them) and basically told me to watch my diet, eat more fiber etc etc. Now I didn't have any other symptoms, no pain, no bloating, no vomiting etc, just the bleeding in the toilet every time I went to the bathroom. Sometimes it would last about a month then go away for a week then come back etc.

Recently during a doctors visit, I was told that my hemoglobins were high and that I was anemic and to start taking some iron pills. I went to see another doctor who basically started worrying me about colon cancer and that I needed a Colonoscopy etc. Now I am really freaked out and can't think about anything else but this impending Colonoscopy and if I have colon cancer. I have read about the symptoms and despite the bleeding and the anemic, I have no other symptoms, no pain, no vomiting, no bloating etc etc. How realistic is it that I have colon cancer.

Thanks for listening to me.

Hi
Hi there, can relate to your problems cept I just turned 50 and have a family hisory of colon cancer. THe colonoscopy is a piece of cake.. the worse part is drinking the gallon of crap... heres the secret...you only have to drink enough of hte stuff until you pass clear liquid....Maybe half the stuff. You don't seem to have anyother symptoms and this colonoscopy will confirm the bleeding if you indeed have internal hemorrhoids. Its normal to worry, but look at hte bright side....you are getting in there and having something done about it. The sooner you are seen, if there is a problem, you can nip it in the butt...I mean bud......You're gonna be fine dude! Laughing

Cancer Huh?
I am 17 with hemroids. And now when I go to the restroom then i have a lot of mucous in my stool. But I have no pain. And before my poop was always hard to pass because of constipation due to my thyroid disease. I just want to get some help. Also I bleed a bright blood but I think this is from my hemroids.

Thanks,
Scarlett
