Q: Questions About Yaz

My dermatologist put me on Yaz for acne. I started the pills on what I thought was the first day of my period...but now I think it was only spotting. So I took the pills 4 days before my period actually started. THen when I did get my period it was very light for 3 days and now has been VERY heavy for 6 days. THis is very unusual for me. My period always lasted 4-5 days with a medium flow at most. It doesn't show any signs of stopping anytime soon either. SHould I be concerned about this long period? Could it be becuase I started the pills early? Why am I having such a long period? I'm still taking the pills, but I'm getting worried and I'm not so sure it's worth it. I haven't been on birth control for over 5 years since I had my tubes tied after my last child was born....this is purely for control acne and PMDD. Please give me your opinions...I'm quite worried. THank you so much.

It's not a problem if you started early... Your period may be odd on the pills, and you may just have to wait this month out. I'd just wait it out, as long as you're not filling a ton of pads or tampons in an hour...

I hated yaz, but I've always been irregular but never like that. When I was on Yaz I started bleeding like crazy in the middle of my pill pack. Happened every month I took it but never around the same time. No other BC pill has done that with me. When I stopped taking Yaz I bled heavily for 4 weeks until I got desogen.
