Q: What causes extreme pain when swallowing ?

What could this possible pain in my throat be? Painful when swallowing, feels as though there is something blocking my airway. Tender to the touch.

According to your symptoms (painful swallowing) you could be experiencing a sore throat. Inflammation of the tonsils (tonsillitis) usually manifests with painful swallowing. You can visit your primary health doctor for an examination.
