Weight Loss Drugs

Hi there guys,
i am just enquirying about pills you can take to help you lose weight.
A friend of mine is taking these tablets which help her lose weight, I dont know what they are called but I know they have some speed in them.
The ones she is taking at the moment are slightly bigger than the previous ones she was taking and it has really worked with her losing weight but then on the other hand her sister is aslo taking them and she hasnt really lost much. Are diet pills really that dangerous, I know that might sound a really stupid question but it would depend on what it is you are taking????????????!!!!
Does any one know of of how dangerous they can be and what harm they do to you if any.? Thanx for reading and I would really appreciate some feed back. Takecare all. Smile

Many weight loss pills do have speed in them.

Whether they are dangerous or not & whether they work or not depends on how many you take (an overdose or just more than recommended) is too much & could cause serious problems for many body organs, even death as it can damage the heart; it also depends on what & how much you eat, having a healthy diet & some exercise along with the recommended dose of diet pills as a short term aid is probably fine & will work, but having no exercise & still eating lots of rich sweet food & the diet pills will be useless.

The other thing though is that we are all different, we can all have different reactions to any food or medication so even a low dose diet pill & the right eating plan could be dangerous if you are affected by a serious side effect.

Are they really that dangerous? This not only depends on what you're taking but how much, what you're eating, how much exercise you'er doing & whether the particular diet pill has any side effects to which you are susceptible!!

Yes they are dangerous. I posted a few posts up. But I ended up in the hospital with a heartbeat racing out of control. It really messes up ur body more then u would know. Some more then others. Either way, they dont really work.. I mean u lose it at first, but sooner or later ur body will need more then that, then once u are off em it makes ur metabolism slow alot. I dont reccomend diet pills. I did use to use them but not sense ive started trying to recover.

Some are dangerous and some are not. And some really do work. My mother has lost over 150 pounds from one of them and has kept it off for three years. You still excercises, but she would have never lost it without the help of those pills.
It depends on the pill, the quantity, the person and their health factors and many other things. Ideally, talk to your doctor before starting to take anything new.
But, since this is on the eating disorder forum, if you have an eating disorder, do not take diet pills. Get help!
