yeah but atleast she stopped just handed tons of them over (if that's what she was doing)....

what do ya'll think about sweets as a reward?.. i hate it..
my exbf's little sister was a big girl and they made her finish her dinner before they would give her dessert...
i don't understand teh concept here..
isn't that just making her eat more and then gouging herself for dessert?..

The concept is to make the child eat healthy foods first (assuming the dinner is healthy) and then if they are still hungry (which they shouldn't really be) they can have a little sweetness. I honestly can't make it through most meals and I almost never want dessert because trying to eat everything on a plate makes me nauseous.

Technically, the dinner should be properly proportioned so the child gets all the food groups in the proper amount etc.

yah, but it made no sense to me the way they were making her do it.
she had to put the food on her plate according to how hungry she was..
and then after she finished everythign could have whatever amount of dessert she wanted...

i can barely eat what is on my plate let alone a whopping plate and dessert too...

She had to put food on her plate according to how hungry she was? And it is too much?

Sounds like they're trying to teach her to put smaller portions on her plate at meal time. It's much better to go get seconds than to leave a blob of food on your plate. Maybe you should tell her that... "Don't put as much food on your plate. If you finish and you're still hungry, then go get more".
