Treatment For Seronegative Rheumatoid Arthritis Posted: 07-23-07 04:47am
I have been on
20-Methotrexate/Diclofinac/Folic Acid for
15wks. I still am having symptoms of
Rheumatoid Arthritis even though it is
Seronegative. My Dr. wants me to now start
Remicade infusions. Reading about the side
effects/mortality law suits on the
internet about this drug is really scary.
Has anyone here w/Rheumatoid Arthritis
taken Remicade infusions? Did they work
for you? What side effects did you get
from it? This RA disease & the drug
treatments are so scary to me! I have
18mo. old twins & I need to live a
long time yet to see them grow up. I'm so
afraid of what these drugs are going to do
to me like shorten my life or kill me but
I've got to do something to improve the
quality of my life too. Suffering w/pain
in my hands all the time is not fair to my
young children or husband either.

I'll try to make this short. I'm 38, have
rheumatoid arthritis (otherwise, in
excellent health). I have heard/read
horror stories about this disease (and
have my own unfortunate stories) but I
want to tell EVERYONE about the medication
my doctor prescribed. It's called GENERIC
NAME: hydroxychloroquine / BRAND NAME:
Plaquenil. Unlike ALL the other
medications with serious side effects,
mortality rates, etc. etc., this one works
for me. Virtually no side effects (a very,
very small percentage of people will have
eye problems. I spoke with my eye doctor
and in his 25 years of practice, he has
NEVER some across anyone who is on
plaquenil to have contracted any eye
problems).
Please talk to your doctor and really
press the issue if they don't agree with
giving this medication a try. It's been
around for decades. Why ALL doctors don't
recommend it is still a mystery to me.

Hi
I know exactly how you feel. I have a 2
year old and a 4 year old and I cannot use
my hands, they're too painful. The drugs
for RA are terrible especially for us
young women who want to keep ourselves
looking good! I have in the past tried
NSAIDs with stomach protection tablets and
a low dose of cortisone aswell as the anti
malaria hydrxychloroquine. Eventually they
did send me into remission which lasted 5
years! Unfortunately now the dreaded
disease is back!
The side effect of these drugs weren't too
bad I have to say, the cortisone made my
face a little chubbier than normal but
when the remission began I stopped taking
the tablets and the chubbiness went away
quite fast. The hydroxychloroquine was
worse, this made my hair go thin and a bit
frizzy which took about a year or so to
for my hair to grow back normally after
stopping with these tablets. Unfortunately
this seems to be the best remedy. I have
just bought a book called the war within
which is about changing our diets to help
against the disease, also I tried
accupuncture but I can't really say if
that helped or not as I was having it done
at the same time as my medicine.
Anywya I hope you will get the best help
possible and know that there are many
others out there who are suffering aswell!
I have been taking a Bible study with
Jehovah's Witnesses who have taught me the
truth about life, and why we are allowed
to suffer and how it will all be set
straight in the future and that is really
where I have put my faith for the future!
Kind Regards,
Tinky360.
