Good question
I'll tell you which vitamins you need to take and then you decide if you want to take vitamins or go to the source, fruits and vegetables.

Treat Alzheimer's disease with Vitamin C

Taking about a vitamin which is a strong antioxidant, this helps in preventing free radical damage to our brain cells. At times a combination of vitamin E and C is known to have better results than just one vitamin, this is probably because the immunity system and energy levels are boosted which does not allow Alzheimer's to set in.
Folic Acid or Vitamin B for Alzheimer's disease

The Folic acid is found to help keep Alzheimer's at bay, with daily consumption of about 400mg of this Vitamin. If a person is not getting required amount of this vitamin, study has found they are more likely to contract Alzheimer's than others who get enough of Folic acid from their diets.
Vitamin E & B6 for Alzheimer's disease

People who took regular multi vitamin pills or followed a regulated and balanced diet which had adequate amount of vitamin E and B6 are also said to have cut down the risk of getting Alzheimer's.

If you need the sources for those vitamins then drop me an email and I'll get back to you.

Curcumin
Hi Looptic,

This doesn't qualify as a "fruit/vegetable", but I have heard that curcumin, which is an ingredient in curry, may help prevent Alzheimer's. I don't know how true that statement is, but I think there have been some preliminary studies done that indicates curcumin may help. I also know of a doctor at UCLA who takes curcumin.

They initially got this idea because they noticed that people from India had a low rate of Alzheimer's - and a common food they eat is curry. Curcumin has anti-inflammatory effects, so theoretically it could help Alzheimer's. Do some research and see what you think. Personally for me I have been taking some curcumin pills, just in case as I figured it can't really hurt, but only help you.

Vitamin C can be found in : broccoli, tomatoes, peppers, citrus fruit (such as: oranges), potatoes, strawberries, green leaves vegetable, and many more.

So I think it does.
