Oxycontin and all other opiate pain relievers should be available to anyone who wants them. no prescription should be necessary. Before everyone starts to bite my head off, think for a second. It is an undeniable fact that abusing pain killers can and does kill people. But it is also a fact that it does not kill nearly as many people as either tobacco or alcohol. And these substances are completely legal. It is BS politics that pain killers and marijuana (which doesn't do 1/10 as much damage as either tobacco or alcohol) is so harshly regulated. Land of the free? Please...

I don't know if I can agree with you on this one. My job would be tons easier if anyone could walk into a drug store and buy Vicodin, that's for sure. I think the concern is more for drug interactions, dosage safety and public safety, not just access to narcotics. Similarly, people who think they have high cholesterol can't just go and buy a prescription for Vitorin. If people have legitimate reasons for using Oxycontin or Vicodin, most physicians are willing to supply patients with these when needed.

Are you speaking from a reference of personl experience, or just in general?

oh my god!! just cause tobacco or alcohol is not good for you but legal does not mean they need to give out painkillers to just anyone.
