I have read a lot about not having sex vaginally, what about anal sex? is it safe?

Anal sex is safe depending upon what you want to prevent. If you want to prevent pregnancy, you can practice anal sex. But if you want to prevent sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) you should know that using condom is the only safe option no matter the type of sex you practice. Unprotected anal sex as unsafe as vaginal sex.
