Q: Will Clomid increase the pregesterone levels and allow ovula
asked by: DoctorQuestion on July 22nd, 2007
My pregesterone level was only .4 when last tested. If I start the clomid at 100 mg on cycle days 3-5 will this increase the pregesterone levels and allow ovulation? My doctor tells me I am probably not releasing eggs and this should help.

Current medical treatment: Looking into clomid"

Clomid (clomiphene) is an ovulation stimulator and progesterone is a hormone produced by the yellow body. The "yellow body" is a structure in the ovaries that develops from the follicle that remains after a egg-cell is expelled from the ovaries. If ovulation does not occur, there are no yellow bodies and no progesterone will be produced. If clomiphene induces ovulation, progesterone should be detected during the second half of your cycle.
