Q: Broken femur + severed femural artery : Pros and cons for re
asked by: DoctorQuestion on July 20th, 2007
My 17 yr old daughter broke her femur and severed her femural artery in January, 2007. A titanium rod was placed in the bone at that time. After the initial surgery the orthopedic surgeon told us the rod would be there forever, he is now discussing removing the rod. What are the pros and cons for removing the rod?

I'm sorry, as a General Practitioner, I cannot answer your question. This question needs an expert opinion from an orthopedist.
