asked by: DoctorQuestion on July 20th, 2007
If I have always had a normal menstrual cycle ranging from 26 - 30 days, but 8 months of the year it is 28 days and had sex on the second day of my cycle and on the 11th day of my cycle and then found out I was pregnant...what are the percent chances that I conceived on the 11th day of my cycle -- or a couple of days afterward?

Fertility Answer A3156
Conception happen several hours after ovulation. Ovulation happens 14 days before the next menstrual cycle starts ... which means that in a 28 day-long cycle, ovulation occurs in the middle of the cycle. Two days before and 2 days after ovulation are considered the "fertile days" of the cycle-when conception is very likely. The 11th day of the menstrual cycle can be considered a fertile day if the cycle lasts 22-26 days.
