My Wedding Dress!

i'm so excited! i went to the seamstress
today and she sketched out my dress and i
love it.
i couldn't find anything even close to
what i want so i decided to have it made.
i didn't even have a picture, i just made
an appointment and described (poorly, i
may add) what i had in mind and she
whipped up a sketch right there and it's
*exactly* what i want.
my mom and i are heading down to boston
next week to pick out the fabric, then
i'll bring it to the seamstress and we'll
get started.
yay!
oh, and i feel the need to mention that
she totally manhandled me today. i was
wearing a baggy shirt and she wanted to
see my shape, so she kept squeezing my
hips and sides and lifting up my shirt.

legally we're already married, but we're
having a ceremony and small reception on
october 13th. pretty much everyone we know
except our parents know we're already
married.

probably years from now. they're paying
for all this so i don't think they'd see
the humor in it. they'd wonder why they
just had to shell out all that money if
we're already married.
laura, i don't have a sketch and i can't
draw so i won't be attempting to reproduce
it. it's similar to the one i showed you a
while back (the one i showed *you*, not
the one i showed everyone).

hmm... that probably would've been a good
question to ask. well, she knows when the
wedding is so it'll be done by then! next
week i'll go in with my fabric and she'll
take my measurements and get started. i
can't imagine it will take too long
though.
this was my mom's idea. i was going to
settle for something not even close to
what i wanted but my mom insisted on
having it made. she also said it would be
cheaper than buying one in the store...
wrong!

i'm really excited. i keep going through
phases of "wedding shmedding" and "yay!
i'm getting married!"
i hope it doesn't take her long to make
because i'm dying to see the finished
product. obviously it's not like when you
pick one out at the store and you know
exactly what you're getting, this is kind
of a gamble.
and sorry to disappoint, but finn won't be
sporting a tux. he's going to wear black
pants, a short sleeve white button down
shirt, a dark pink tie, and black
converse. we're going for a 60's feel.

i know in some countries in europe the
legal ceremony is always seperate from the
church blessing so everyone kind of has
two weddings. you could just say you are
being "european". lol.
i really wish i was married right now. i
don't care about a big lavish wedding or
anything, i just want to be his wife. but
we both have a lot of family and i guess
it wouldn't be nice for them to be left
out of it. i am so tempted to do
something like what you did and just go
make it official then have a celebration
later on. i wish we could see this dress
of yours, i'm totally curious now!

honestly, we got married for insurance
purposes. we'd been engaged since may '05
and set our wedding date for oct '06.
well, i got pregnant and finn was due 10
days after our wedding date so we
postponed it. we moved halfway through my
pregnancy and i lost my medicaid so we
chose to just get married secretly since
we were getting married anyway. i feel
like i have to clarify that so people
don't think we rushed out and got married
just because i was pregnant.
and i think i'm going to keep the dress a
secret until i have official wedding
pictures. i want you all to see the full
effect, not just me modeling it with a
messy ponytail and hairy legs!
