Anxiety Forum Supporter Introduction Posted: 07-19-07 17:17pm
My name is Crystal and I want to introduce
myself as a supporter on the Anxiety
Forums. I actually started out on the TMJ
Forums, for jaw pain, and in my journey to
take care of this problem, I have
discovered it is caused by my old evil
nemesis, ANXIETY. Now I have known I had
anxiety since I was a small child, but
never really confronted it. The thing is
it never went away, and in fact kept
getting worse and worse. As many of you
know at some point anxiety can cause
physical symptoms as well, really bad
ones. So I sought help from a fabulous
Internist, my doc, who suggested
medication. Turns out the root cause is
actually some depression as well as
anxiety. Who knew.
I would like to share some of the things I
have learned about all this with others
going thru it. That is why I am here. It
is not an easy thing to deal with, it is
confusing and never really goes away. But
I think we can all get it totally under
control. There is an excellent list of the
symptoms of anxiety posted here. My best
advice to you all is DON"T GET HUNG UP ON
THE SYMPTOMS. It is only your body
reaction to your mental state. Focus on
the underlying issues.
Please let me know if I can be of any help
to you. Crystal

Hey! I totally agree that TMJ is caused by
anxiety - I just recently figured that out
myself - the hard way. I ended up
dislocating the whole left side of my jaw
cause anxiety weakened my jaw muscles...
Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for
pointing that out. You should message the
admin on this site so that he can sticky
your introduction to the top of this
forum.

People with anxiety tense up so much,
and the jaw area for some reason suffers
the most. It's more common than I thought!
I searched everywhere for help with my TMJ
disorder. Now at this point I have a TMJ
dentist, a massage therapist for trigger
point massage in the neck and jaw area,
and my doctor who gives me pain meds.
