Q: Lost my Appetite : acute stomach inflammation (gastritis) ?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on July 19th, 2007
I lost my appetite for about four days. I pretty much had to force my food down. Yesterday had a salad for lunch, which I threw up afterward. Last night my appetite somwhat returned, and I had a normal dinner. Today I feel fine, and am able to eat. Should I see a doctor? What could have caused this?

According to the symptoms you report (nausea, vomitus, appetite loss) and the fact that they lasted only 4 days you might have experienced some type of acute stomach inflammation (gastritis). Acute gastritis is usually provoked by food or drink. If the symptoms are no longer present, you don’t need further medical attention.... but if the symptoms return you can visit your GP.
