I was wondering if someone could help. (doctors only, please). A few years ago, I had an UTI. I was treated with antibiotics but two symptoms remained up to this day: discomfort on the tip of the urethra and occasional discharge. Below is the detailed history.
1. I had a sexual intercourse with a woman in a condom sometime in 2003. A few days later I developed a discharge, burning when urinating and frequent urge to urinate. I went to see a doctor who gave me, I believe, one dose of Zitromax, 1,000mg. Culture tests, however, came negative.
2. Everything was fine except a discomfort right on the tip of urethra (tip of the penis but right inside). I can describe the discomfort like a minor burning… something you feel there. No difference if I urinate… it did not depend on the day and time of the day… on the food. I just constantly felt it there… the Discomfort was aggravated by intercourses that I would have (women only and fully protected).
3. In a few months, I went to see an urologist. He checked my prostate, took a culture test, mycoplazma, kikoplazma…. The whole 9 yards… He gave me Tetracycline or Doxycycline, I think, for 10 days. Nothing helped – the discomfort was always there.
4. A few months later I went to see a Urologist again. At this time, he gave me, Valtrex (just in case), diflucan, unti-funginal creams… etc…
5. Up to now, this discomfort never left me alone. In the course of two years, I would have sexual contacts with various partners (women only). Once in a while I would develop whitish and cloudy discharges. And always discomforts in the form of burning on the tip of urethra. I have only protected sex. No urge to urinate frequently or severe pain or burning when urinating. Nothing like that.
6. In the last 18 months, I took about 12 culture tests – all came negative. I took AIDS test – negative. Took sugar/glucose test – fine. Saw 3 or 4 different urologists – no one could give me a good answer. I ate lots of various antibiotics including 30-day session. After the 30-day one, I developed severe Candida and was treated with antifunginal cream for 30 days.
7. Every urologist thinks that to look into the bladder through the urethra is unnecessary.
8. So, as of right now situation is the following. I would always have a minor discomfort – light burning on the tip of urethra. I would have sex and in a day I would have much stronger burning and discomfort. Perhaps a day later, I would develop a minor discharge that would come right from the top of urethra. No pain in the abdomen, no urges to urinate, no painful urination. I would immediately take Tylenol for a few days and it would help. Discharge would be gone in a day or so and burning would subside to the usual level…
Pls help – it kills me psychologically more than physically. Thank you very much in advance.
