I wanted to share with you about my
appendicitis, and how it came to be..
First off, a week ago this past sunday, I
woke up felling a little under the
weather, and not that hungry. My stomach
basically felt like I had done like 1000
sit ups, and was a little ache. This
continued through out the day, and I went
into our Emergency where they did the
usual test's Bloodwork etc.. But they
never did an ultrasound. My white count
was up, but not dramatically so they sent
me home. told me it was a bowl issue.
Well the next morning, it was still there
and I was getting a little nervous so I
went to my Doctor. He did something called
rebound tenderness test. Which basically
means you push in on you side, and release
quick.. if it hurst on the rebound there
may be a problem. Well, it hurt but not
terrible. He asked me if I had an
ultrasound last night, and I said NO. He
then told me to go back the hospital and
get one as soon as possible, and if they
couldn't get me one, he believe is was
appendicitis, and that I would need the
hospital in less than 12 hours, since it
may burst.
I drove back the emerge where they where
able to get me in the Ultrasound within a
hour, and sure enough, the technologist
said, I bet this hurts, and she showed me
the appendix, and she had said it was
swollen, and enlarged. Plus it had thicken
the lining. It was then apparent that it
was surgery I needed. Which I had within
the next 3 hours.
p.s the Pathology came back Appendicitis
NOW. I am 14 days out of surgery, I was
home in 3 days after surgery.. and doing
great, had my stiches out tuesday, and
although a little blotting still, all and
all a good experience. Kudos to the docs
and nurses..
The moral is, your appendix can present in
many different ways... just because you
don't have SHARP bend you over pain, never
neglect dull pain that will not go away
over a 12 hour period... I almost did..
and I am thankful that I was able to MAN
up as it where and see the doc.
