Q: How Epilepsy Is Diagnosed ? How Many Tests ?

Hi there:
I am surprised for what I have read here.
I am a musician, and I remember being playing on the stage my saxophone, when people and things around me started to feel "unreal" and distant. I was almost in panic and my heart beated a lot. Also I had a heavy pressure sensation on my eyes and in front of my head.
I went to Dr and he prescribed Propanolol and alprazolam (benzo). My symptoms continued and I visited a lot of Drs and no one seems to be able to diagnose anything wrong.
I was checked for heart, sinus infection, eye exams, blood tests, etc. Including a EEG that showed nothing wrong.
It is possible that even when I had a normal EEG I may have epilepsy? I am so tired from this situation, I have been on antidepressants also. At this moment I don't take any drug at all.
I am asking this because I only had one EEG and was normal. Is there just one type of EEG? or there are different kinds? or which other tests do I have to take to know exactly if I have epilepsy?
Thanks if anyone reply, and excuse my english.

I don't know if you had an EEG while awake or asleep or both, but my epilepsy only presented itself while I was sleeping.
