i had taken the depo shot for about 9 months. i stopped taken them in april of 2007. and have had one period since then. i took a pregnancy test last week and it was negative. has anyone else had this problem and what did you do? i am a 19 year old mother of a one year old and am married and a little nervous that i might be infertile because of depo.

After getting off Depo, it takes a while for your cycle to regulate and come back. So if you just got off the shot in April, it sounds like you should not be worrying about not being regular yet.

Some women may take up to 18 months before their cycles are completely back to normal and they can conceive.

When I got off Depo, I think it was something like six or seven months after getting that last shot when I finally got my period again.

I read on google that it takes about 6 months or so for the meds in the Depo shot to leave your body compleatly... If i was you i would re-search the side effects of the depo shot, or i would call your doctor to make sure you are ok.

I bet everything is just fine Wink The depo was just messing with your hormones... Now your hormones are just balencing back out....

I was just talking to the dr about this as I am switching from depo back to the pill since there has been so much controversy over the shot. She said that it can take up to a year or two to get your cycle back to normal and that I may not even have a period for a while. I've done plenty research on getting off the shot and I would say you have nothing to worry about. It is completely normal.. i'm not an expert but just from what i've read everywhere- that it may take a while to return your body to normal. No worries. If you have any major concerns i would discus them with your dr.
