Gallbladder Confusion
Posted: 07-17-07 01:04am

Here is my situation:

1.) I have some pain in my gallbladder so they do an ultrasound to check for gallstones...they find nothing.

2.) They perform a hydascan and found me at 38%. They tell me that 35% and under = take out bladder time Confused

However, they failed to tell me what is happening to cause my gallbladder failure. I know about fatty foods, but what is ACTUALLY happening? Almost everything I read online has to do with gallstones, infections, cancer or swelling...and I don't believe I have any of those.

So whats actually going on? Thanks in advance.

Hi Andrew! Welcome to the miserable world of gall bladder confusion! Your hida scan indicated that you are on the low end of normal for its functioning. My guess (and this is just a wild guess, mind you) is that your gall bladder simply does not function well. It could be from the GB itself having "Sludge" in the bottom of it. It could be that you have adheisions growing in there. It could be that your pain is caused by spasms of the bile duct. I have had many of the same issues as you, and although i had mine removed, it failed to improve my symptoms, which in fact worsened since having my GB removed. Here is a little advice for you--try seeking some alternative therapies and see if they work for you. I did acupuncture, and now am fairly symptom-free. It was the best thing I ever did. I cannot guarantee that it will cure your symptoms, but it certainly couldn't hurt to try. Best of luck, and I am sorry that you are having troubles.
