Circumcision involves removing the foreskin (prepucium) of the penis. There are two types of circumcision:
1. Circumcision for religious reasons (Ex. Muslims and Jews remove the foreskin).
2. Circumcision for medical reasons (Ex. fimosis, parafimosis, penile cancer etc.).

A different answer...
1. Gomco - This method of circumcision uses the Gomco bell to protect the head of the penis during the procedure. It is a longer procedure but preferred by more physicians.
2. Mogen - This technique uses a flat clamp to physically separate and allow the removal of the foreskin from the shaft and head of the penis. There is a slightly greater risk of damage to the head of the penis but is a much shorter procedure than the Gomco.
3. Plastibell - Involves cutting off the blood supply to the distal foreskin over a 12-day period. The necrotic tissue is then trimmed off.
