Q: Bowel Problems - Better to Take Anti-diarrheal Or Let It Go

I just have a question since I have irratable bowel syndrome. I sometimes get diarrhea. When I have to leave my house I take an anti-diarrheal pill, like immodium AD, to stop it. Sometimes when I have no where to go, I don't take any pills and just let my body expell whatever it needs to. Even though I find this uncomfortable (as everyone does), it just seems like I'm "getting rid of the bad stuff" so it must intrinsically be better for my body.

So my question is, is it healthier to let your body run its course and get rid of all that stuff? Or is it healthier to take some sort of medication to stop it?

If it's healthier to take a pill, I'll stop the suffering and do that.

Thanks
