I need to know if I am pregnant
I went to get mirena exactly a week after my last period which was the on the 11 or Nov. My period started on the 4 and end on the 8th. i have had no bleeding or spotting since I got it but the funny thing is the first time in my life other than when I got pregnant with my daughter I have missed my periods. ON or off birth control I can nomrally tell you the exact date almost time when Aunt Flow was coming to town. I am worried, no bleeding at all since I have got it. I was on the nuvra ring before and the day the I got mirena I switched it out and the is when my husband loads it all in me. Lol. I am wondering is it possible that I am pregnant from that. I have taken a test a couple of nights before (late at might) and it said neg. Crazy thing is I think I had to take 2 test with my daughter. I have been have some unusual sharp pain on both sides of my pelvis. I normally have migranes but my headaches feel different, I feel strong pressure but more like really really light headed. I am thinking I need to take the test earlier in the morning to get a more accurate result. crazy thing is I am in Iraq, I cant get to a doctor right away. Need advice/ help

Explaination??
Did anyone's doctor go over the side effects of the Mirena before insertion? Just as with the pill if you were to take it consistently it will make your mentruation irregular. There are also going to be side effects if you have hormones being constantly released into your system. not to say its normal.. but, its normal. I havent had the IUD for very long, but I am fully prepared for some side effects. Obviously if they are severe you should go to a physician, but Mirena pregnancy ir extremely rare. It's more ffective (when inserted properly) than any other form of birth control other than not being sexually active.

I need to know if I am pregnant
That being extremely rare getting pregnant on the mirena thing is not true. I have red more women on these online forums who have gotten pregnant than not. Many women seem to be experience syptoms of pregnancy and taking test that show neg when they are indeed positive. When I called my doctor she said that me not spotting or bleeding at all in 6 1/2 weeks is not usualy, she said there is a chance I could be pregnant and it not show on a hpt. some women with some pregnancies need to have a blood test. I took another test this morning it it showed negative. I will hold out a little while longer (which my doctor or my husband dont advise) and see if anything might change that i see for sure that I am pregnant or see if my period is just gone away.

getting pregnant on mirena?!?!?
i've had the mirena iud for almost a year. i can't feel the strings, last time i was at the dr she reassured me that it was still in place and that i had nothing to worry about. lately i've been sick, tired, and moody. i have a 1 yr old and a 2 yr old so i'm always tired and it doesn't help that i'm anemic on top of it. i have never gotten my period since i've been on the mirena. i don't know if this is just symptoms of it, or what. i'm in no hurry to take a test and i don't know if it's because i have no idea how we could manage another baby right now or if it's because i'm going to be heartbroken if it's negative....any suggestions??

can i get pregnant with mirena?
Is it possible to get pregnant while on Mirena? I have been on it for about 7 months. I just started having sexual relations. I have a tilted uterus and I still got pregnant 3 times! If the man ejaculates inside of me, can I still get pregnant? Has this happened to anyone??? Please help.

Mirena and pregnancy
Hello all,

I am a Mirena user and have been for almost five years (mine expires in Apr/09). I have never had any irregular bleeding with this and my periods are normal and on time. My last period was at the beginning of December ending around December 4 or 5th (never had to keep track). I spotted for two days shortly before Christmas (very light, only after sex)and thought this was quite adnormal for me. I experienced the usual sore breasts at the end of December (like usual before I start) but instead of getting my period...I spotted again. To this date, I still haven't started but I am cramping like I am going to and my breasts are tender again. I took a pregnancy test January 5 (knew I was at least a cpl days late at this point) and it came back negative. Does anyone know if the Mirena is guaranteed to the date for five years or is it possible that it may expire a little earlier? Has anyone ever experienced this before? I am scared sh******...I already have five kids and really don't want another. Can you get a false negative due to Mirena? HELP PLEASE!!! Thank you in advance.

Mirena & pregnant?
I had mirena fitted day before olympics (7/08/08 ), have 17mth old & 33mth old.
On insertion i was told i had a long vagina but a short cervix, the strings are very short, gp checked them after 6wks from insertion & said yes they're quite short, hence why cant feel them.

Last night I started feeling movements about 1inch from my belly button & continued on/off night/day, tonight i actually saw my tummy move, have put on weight & very hungry & yes i guess i was bit nauseous recently.

Bit scared, we hadnt planned on having a 3rd. GP aptmt on Fri for unrelated test results (had 3 UTI's in 3mths & checking if its cleared up or if need longer term antib & had been feeling super tired/run down/moody... was put down to anxiety/depression & raising 2 young kids) & now have to ask about this.

Not just that, but my sis is 28wks preggas & i've given her/promised her just about everything of ours... not gonna sleep well til i know.

Have been feeling sharp type twinges/pain in my groin/ovary region & near my belly button where the movements are... am i imagining it all i wonder... or maybe the antibiotics could have interferred with the mirena, yikes...

Not preggas - + mirena not causing me my issues
I'm not preggas & my GP has assurred me that none of these symptoms are from the Mirena (she too has one in). She said the amount of hormone released is the smallest amount compared to anything else, it's just a hint of a hormone & the only reason it was put in there was to try to prevent the heamoraging (sp?) for those who do that are on IUD's, the hormones have nothing to do with making the product actually work conceptionwise. So I'm keeping it in. Smile
Bubble sensations are from bowels & I need to eat more fibre & she's sent many women to gynaes with bloating issues & they've all been told the same thing by the gynaes.

Good luck to everyone Smile

pregnant on an IUD
I have had my IUD in since June. No issues, but I was recently prescribed an antibiotic because I had my wisdom teeth pulled. Can that lower the strength of my Mirena? Im having some symptoms of pregnancy.

must be a rare case then!
I've been on Mirena since June '07. Just found out that I am PREGNANT. In total denial yet, but I've never seen such a positive pregnancy test. Hoping and praying my doc's office is open tomorrow with it being MLKJ day. YIKES!

I am totally freaked out!!
I have had mirena since june 2008 and for the last couple months i have been having the same syptoms that i had when i was pregnant with my daughter, who was born in april. My stomach is getting bigger and i swear i can feel movement in it. I feel.. well.. pregnant. I took 5 HPT and they all said negative, but when i was pregnant with my daughter i took a bunch of HPT and they all said negative too, so i really dont trust them. Im scared to go to the doctor because im only 19 and im in my 3rd semester of college. I cant have another baby. i can barely afford the one i have. can someone please give me some advice???

I am in the exact same predicament as ohiomama. My last period ended first week of December. Nothing unusual up until this point and now I'm 3 weeks late! Took a pregnancy test a little while ago and it was negative, but im worried about tubal pregnancy. My 5 years is up this year in August and I don't know if mine has expired. I checked today and could not evven feel the strings.

To those of you that are pregnant on the IUD. What were your symptoms and did you have any bleeding or non-bleeding before finding out? I have the symptoms but the pregnancy tests all say negative. I need advice.

Mirena
Hello,
I have had Mirena for almost a year and a half now and when I first got it I hated it! I bleed for a month straight and i had terrible mood swings. I have two children already and I'm thinking of having another one. My youngest is almost 2 and I still have 3 more years on my IUD. I know I can take it out at anytime but I need some advise. Should I wait the 3 years or should I take it out now?

Got pregnant on IUD! IT SUCKS!
My wife and I went from using the pill (which gave her horrible migraines) to not using anything for a year to putting that stupid IUD in and WHAMO, pregnant right out of the box.

We had it in for a month, no boom boom while giving it a month to work or whatnot and then she gets pregnant WHILE on THE IUD. Yes nothing is 100% but please, not using anything for a year and the pill for over four years...nothing, one month on the mirena and presto, baby! Bayer and their screwed up IUD can go screw themselves. I should send them the bill, and have them listen to him cry all night long and so on. Ladies, the thing is a crock of crap...

Felt Preggo
I have had my IUD for almost a year now. For about the first 4 mnths I was taking preg. test almost every day, because I swore I was preggo, yet they all came back neg, except for 3. I was having all the symptoms of all 3 of my previous pregnancies. I went to the dr as soon as I got the positive tests and she told me that I can still get pregnant and have all the symptoms before the IUD does it's job and prevents it from implanting into the uterus, basically you can get a chemical pregnancy. I don't think that made me feel any better knowing that, but I think my body is becoming use to the IUD now and I feel soo much better now that I am over all the intial side effects from the IUD.
