pregnant with mirena
it is possible. i became pregnant with the mirena iud. I became pregnant after having the iud for 2 years. Pregnancy is always possible. Its one of those things though....1 in 1000!! you never think those things will happen to you. but they do!! I asked my obgyn what i am supposed to use now since this was supposedly the most effective. she had no suggestions. i now have another iud but also use a back up. I just wanted to write in and let everyone know that it is possible. it does happen.

if you were pregnant they can take the iud out. especially if you are early in your pregnancy;. you can then have a normal pregnancy. there is a chance of miscarriage when you take the iud out however i do think the outcome is usually good. i am a ultrasound tech and have also been pregnant with this iud so i have done a lot of research i hope this helps

I thought I was pregnant once while on Mirena. I could have SWORN I was I had all the same symptoms that I got with my first pregnancy. When I went in to the doc I was told that after time the hormones in Mirena decrease a little and your body adjusts and sometimes you can get spotting, tender breasts, etc.

Hi,

My name is Jenea'. I have had the Mirena in since March of 2006. I have had several problems, like spotting, heavy then light cycles.

I already have four kids and don't need another one right now. Their ages are 2, 4, 6, and 8. My husband and I are not plannning on having any more right now.

Recently I have missed my period two weeks ago. I have been able to pretty much time them when they come and they have been pretty consistent in the last two years.

I don't know what to think because I have read so many of your posts, and it still leaves me confused. I don't even want to call my doctor right now because I am in school right now and need to finish within the next year or so.

Help me!!! I don't know what to do!

WORRIED!!!2
I thought also that the Mirena was a done deal for me. I wanted to get pregnant again before I turned 40. I had the device removed and then replaced. Inever felt the strings. Can I just tell you that today I just tossed my cookiies. I've had what has been feeling like migraine head aches (spelling sorry) for the 4th week now. Nausea and vomitting constantly, breast tenderness, heart burn with everything I eat, tired all the time, weak and sometimes dizzy. My husband is in denial(sorry spelling). Heck I too am in denial(SS). Honestly, and I've only admitted this in my prayers, I want to be pregnant but body and my mind can't come together to give me a certainty(SS). I have never had a period with Mirena. If I'm not preggers then I maybe really sick. I'm frightening my family. Now after reading some of the postings I don't know what to think. I don't want to feel bad any more. I feel stupid and sad and lonely and like nobody cares about me and I know at least 2.6 do. I'll scrape some money together for a test, the HCG kind not spelling. Though if it's negative I just don't know... If It's positive though I really don't know.

I'm pregnant but I have a Mirena IUD
Hi, I just read some hold forums talking about the Mirena IUD and the chances of pregnancy.
I have the Mirena for 1 1/2 years and I just found out yesterday that I'm pregnant. It all started 2 weeks ago when my period started, very painfu!I have been bleeding since. I went to the emergency and the blood test revealed positive. either my husband has super heroe sperms or the mirena is not 99.9% effective...

Well i was pregnant!
Hi everyone, it's been quite a week!
Since my first post I ended up in emergency surgery! I freaked out last thursday when we found I was really pregnant. The ultrasound revelaled a mass in the right falopian tube. 9 hours laterI was in the surgery room to remove the mass and clean my abdomen because I had some blood stuck somewhere. I found out I could have died form this. The mirena is not to blame but didn't help. We will have the mirena remove when I fully recuperated. My advise, have yourself checked and make sure the iud is really for you.

take care ladies!

Dr wants me to think about having Mirena put in for other reason
I seen my specialist yesterday to discuss an extreme amount of pain and bleeding when it comes to my periods and even throughout the months. Sometimes I bleed for anywhere from 3 weeks to a months and then stop for a week or two just to start up the next week again, so I went to see my specialist yesterday who suggested 3 things, 1 of which was Mirena, and i'm just wondering has anyone else used Mirena for something other then birth control, as I already have my tubes tied, and wouldnt be using Mirena for birth control at all???
Any Advice would be greatly appreciated
Thank you in advance

What you had is an etopic pregnancy, not very common so im told, but I also had one a few years ago, which I almost died from! I did not have a IUD in but was taking birth control, but I just wanted to say, I know what you went through and are going through! my heart goes out to you, its such a hard thing to go through, but I promise things will get better!
Did they have to cut you open for the surgery, or did they do it vaginally?
Good Luck, I hope you feeling better Smile

Re: Well i was pregnant!
Hi Joshslady
They did 3 incisions called laproscopic, those are small and one more about 2 inches like c-section.

I'm not sure if you had this problem but during the surgery they inserted a cateter and that caused a very nice urinary track infection. Like the ectopic was not enough.

Thanks for sharing with me your past experience and I hope you will never go through that again.

Uncommon... Symptoms?
I have had Mirena since May 08’ and am just recently married. The past week has been really hard on me. I’m not one to run to a doctor for everything. But I have been having really bad cramps, (at first didn’t feel like period cramps) chills, fever, nausea, and really just not feeling well. I went to the doctor on Tuesday and told him my symptoms, as well as just mentioned I had an IUD. He said it was probably just the flu, but I could come back the next day if things hadn’t changed over night.

I was really bothered about that, and felt like I had not received any answers. Well last night (Thursday night) things had not improved but symptoms had changed a little. I went back to the InstCare because it was late.
And just didn’t have a good feeling so I made my husband take me home.

My mom has this friend that does Zonings? (and she is a nurse and her dad is a doctor) I’m not sure if anyone has herd of that. I’m not very wise on that topic and I wish I could explain it but I felt like I just needed some answers and anything would help. While she was doing the zone she said that my IUD had been tilted and because of that has caused an infection around my IUD and that I should just pull it down about ¾ of an inch so that the strings were even. I was a little worried I would pull it out so I had my husband pull on it a little.

Today I am feeling better but also have a piece of mind that I now know what is going on. I called my doctor and set up an appointment for Monday to have an ultrasound and see what the doctors have to say?

Has anyone had similar symptoms

Sorry for the long blog.
Niki.

I think I am...
pregant but not sure and very nervous to take a test. I ave been on Mirena for 3 years now. On occasion I have KILLER cramps (OMG...there is nothing like it) and I get cyst pains too. Usually the pain lasts a a short period of time. The great thing about it is I haven't seen my period for a couple of years!

Anyway, today is weird. After 2 weeks I still have pains and I'm eating EVERYTHING in sight and and I actually feel pain if I don't eat. Any thoughts?

Well I have had the IUD in since July of 2007. A few months after my second son was born. I recenly had intercorse and right after that I began bleeding as if I was having a period! I've never had this happen before. I think my IUD slipped because I can feel the string is a lot longer. I think it is to early to take a pregnacy test. I'm really scared right about now. I don't have an appointment for a couple of weeks with my ob. I just do not know what I should do at this poit!
