I have had Mirena for a little over six months. At first my periods were all screwed up (of course) but after I reached the 2nd month I was back on track. Now I havent had a period since August and its October 5th.... Sad should I be concerned about being pregnant? Mirena is suppose to be better than havin your tubes tied right?

Pregnant?
I've had my Mirena for almost two years, and in the past two weeks I started wondering if I'm pregnant. My breasts are extremely sore, usually I can wake up fine in the morning but now I'm very tired (like I was when I was pregnant with my daughter), and I'm having nausea in the morning. Sound about right? I called my OBGYN and we set up an appt. tomorrow to check the Mirena and get a pregnancy test. I guess we'll see!

I was just wondering if anyone knows whether or not muscle relaxers can interfere with Mirena? My aunt was on pill birth control and got pregnant when she started takibg muscle relaxers after a car accident. Now i have to take them for a pull neck.

I have the Mirena IUD for almost 5 years. This whole time I have never had my period. But I still have pms: cramping, sore boobs etc every now and again. The IUD effects every woman differently. Some women have really horrible periods, some have small irregular periods and bleeding, and others like me don't have them at all. You will know and your body will tell you if there is something horribly wrong, so don't worry. If your still concerned then tell your doctor Smile

Re: Anyone Get Pregnant While Using Mirena Iud?
Hi, I have had the mirena since jan 26 2009, so about 10 months now, i am also worried about getting or possibly being pregnant. I have a 10 month old daughter and am in college so i really do not need another child right now but would love and take care of it if given one. I have read alot of you ladies forums and i have also had terrible headaches, dizzy, pains in my lower stomach and have on a quite few occasions felt a moving sensation in my stomach. I've been under alot of stress lately because i am planning a wedding. my periods are so crazy. i know that when i first had the mirena put in i must have bled for 3 to 4 months. Now they just come and go as they please. This may be too much information but also sometimes while during intercourse i hurt real bad in my abdomen. but then again like i said its only sometimes. I also can never find the strings. I have been to my obgy 3x's about these problems and they make me feel like Im just making it all up when i know im not. Im looking for another one for a second opinion. What i would really like to know is if anyone has ever found out that they were pregnant while being on the mirena by using a home preg test. I bought two a couple of days ago. Used one and it was neg., i saved the other one for later but do not know when will be the best time to take it. Please if there is anyone out there just as lost and confused as I am, please share your advice.

Thanks so much

Re: i hope you cant get pregnant using mirena
. I have had the mirena for about a year now.. i am glad that i am seeing all these post that says they are having those same pregnancy symptoms..and actually being pregnant.. because just a few months ago..i started feeling different..breast seem a little larger, tender more often than usual, cravings are OFF THE HOOK! Also, i am cramping way more than i was when i first got it put in. an OB/GYN dr told me that the mirena would not cause me to have those cravings or weight gain, and that i should not be cramping as much since i do not ovulate. I think that is not true. being that this IUD is a fairly new product, i dont think "they" (the dr's) really know what are the true symptoms or side affects of the mirena. Because i havent had a cycle at all since ive had this mirena, its really hard for me to tell if these are pregnancy symptoms or side affects, and I am going to go to the dr. , and im hoping that i am not pregnant. i have 2 children already..6 and 8 yrs old. Girl and Boy. i am done! lol I dont know if im pregnant.. but i will definitely post the results soon.

Mirena scare.
Ok so my son is almost 9 months old I had him January 27th, I have had the Mirena since about 6-8 weeks after having him. This morning I woke up sick to my stomach and I threw up but after I felt fine. With my son I didnt have any morning sickness. But the past few days I would be just sitting and relaxing while my son was napping and I feel a little fluttering like when I was pregnant with him. It scares me because me and my fiance can only afford him right now. Money is tight as it is. If I'm pregnant again I will be happy yes but also concerned. I am starting college in the Spring. I am 21 and I need to do something to help my family. But I fear if I have another baby I won't be able to go to school Sad HELP

Possible pregnancy with Mirena?
I have had mirena for about 5 or 6 mo now. For the first 3 mo strait i bled. I had just had my 3rd baby boy so you can immagine how annoying it was. I pushed through even tho i wanted to take it out. Well finally i stopped bleeding and had one period. Now i started cramping and started bleeding again. It started out like a period, but lasted for about 6 days, my normal period only lasted 3 to 4. After the heavy bleeding stopped after 6 days, i would still spot every morning for about 2 hours. That lasted for about 3 more days. Now i have started feeling achey, flu like, and ive been cramping all day long. Im scared im pregnant but i dont want to take a test. My husband is deploying for Afghanastan in Jan, and like i said i already have 3 boys, 4, 2, and 7mo. Has anyone else had symptoms like this with mirena, should i take it out and try something new?

OK I am reading about all these women getting pregnant while on mirena, and I have been worried that I am for a few month. It is said that after a year it is common for your period to go away, but mine stopped completely after 5 months. The only time I have ever missed a period was when I was pregant. Also, the only times I have ever had heartburn or nosebleeds was when I was pregnant, and I have been having them consistenly for the past few months, along with insane cravings. The other thing that worries me is when I asked the nurse practitioner that delivered my baby about it she said it was great, but she did not recommend this one dr putting it in. Well, my luck he was the one they scheduled to do it. I had to go back about a week later because I thought it was falling out. I took a preganancy test and it came back negative. does anyone have any advice.

i've had the marena for just over a year now, 14months. i have 3 boys. ever since i got the thing in i've had about 6 bacterial infections? and it only started like that since i had the marena. the doctor told me that its not the IUD but why only when i got it the infection occurs? and now just recently my boobs were major sore last week and had cramping. feels like my cervix is contracting or something and then there is nothing, no blood no spotting. and i dont remember my last period if felt like 2 months ago. and as i recall it must of been so light. im super tired as well. im going tomorrow to check if i am, i just think if the Creator wanted this child to be here then i will accept. i have a feeling i am.

Weigh gain with IUD birth control
Has anyone had really bad weight gain while having the IUD? I have had mine since oct. 07 and i have gained a lot of weight since then and just can't seem to loose a bit of it. I'm considering getting it removed just for the fact that i've heard it is a big side effect of the IUD

Same questions as everyone on Mirena...I WILL update tomorrow!
After reading all of these posts, I am now even MORE confused. Most women never update so I can't tell if they were pregnant or not! I have had the Mirena in for almost 2 years now and after the first 9 months, I pretty much stopped getting a period. Every few months or so some light bleeding pops up for a day or two. Well recently I have been having all of the same pregnancy symptoms everyone on this site seems to be having, (except nausea which I had real bad with my last two pregnancies) but over the course of 4 months I've taken at least 4 HPT all negative. The bloating for me is the biggest thing. I am SO bloated, to where if I'm not pregnant I'm going to be concerned what else is up! For all women scared to take a test, you need to take one sooner than later. Always call your doctor if you feel you really could be pregnant. I know the normal paranoia of getting pregnant, but this time I just really feel pregnant. Either way, I finally made an appt for tomorrow and WILL update and let everyone know Smile I have read on a lot of different websites that a lot of women take home pregnancy test, get a negative result, and then take a blood test and are indeed pregnant. Also, my doctor never told me to check strings. Yesterday I tried to find them after reading on another website and I felt something in there, but it was way up there and no strings for sure...We'll see what happens tomorrow. I have 3 kids and wouldn't mind another in the future, but my husband and I just aren't ready right now. NERVOUS

Ok well I went to the doc today and they ran a blood test. Unfortunately I won't find out the results until Monday, ahhhh! But, she did say the Mirena is in place and everything else looked normal so we'll see. I'll update Monday

Ok I am 27 and have 4 children. I am using the Mirena because I do not want any more children and yesterday I found out that my bf's brother's girlfriend is prego. Supposedly she has the Mirena. With the news about her I started freaking out cuz I know I am fertile mertile. I decided to check up on how common it is to get pregnant while having the Mirena. All these posts are really scaring me. I know that abstinence is the only sure fire solution to not getting pregnant but I was under the impression that Mirena was right up there with it. I now want to go see my doctor just to make sure it is in place. Thank you though everyone for sharing your stories.
