I have had the Mirena for about ten months
I have had the Mirena for about ten months, and now I'm four weeks late for my period. My last two periods were very light, and the two before that were just a little spotting. My concern now is I have white spots on my nipples and when I gently squeeze them milk drops come out. I have been feeling some soft movement but I thought it was gas. Three days ago I threw up for no reason. Yeah I think I may have gotten pregnant while using Mirena. I will be taking a pg test today.

Well, all this reading....
So many of you have questions and so many are not answered. I wish they were.
I have mirena only because my dh doesn't want any more kids right now. I have a 15 month old. I do want to have another baby and am wanting a "miracle IUD baby"
I realize the health implications so I'm prayerful that if I could and did get pregnant, it would not be a life threatening event. I guess I'll keep track of my ovulation and try as though there was no birth control (and keep my fingers crossed)

Hi my name is natasha i have had my IUD since march and about a month ago i started to get sharp pains in my lower stomach. I also bleed almost everytime me and my husband have intercourse, and it hurts like hell also. i went and had an ultrasound today and the tec. person was asking me how far in to my period was i? i replayed that i have not had my period since the first or second week of april. she gave me this funny look and then just finished up. she told me my doc. would look it over and give me a call tommarow. im really worried something might be wrong or i might be pregnent.does anyone have any advise on this. thanks.

6 months pregnant with Mirena
I am 33 years old and have six children with my husband already. My Mirena only lasted 3 months until I got pregnant. Because the baby has been able to grow, my Mirena has now moved into my cervix, and they do not want to get it out due to rupturing my membranes. I am now a high-risk pregnancy, and have to go to the doctor every two weeks. Not fun!!

Hello Everyone,

I am a 20 year old college student and mother of a beautiful lil princess. I have been on the Mirena for 2yrs now, i got it placed in 6 weeks after my princess was born. Up until about two weeks ago things were great.

Two weeks ago I notice what feels like movements in the lower part of my stomach, I didn't pay it any attention the first time because I didn't get a chance to eat that day so I thought maybe it was just my stomach growling, however I felt it all that night, so the next day I woke up and set a appointment with my doctor. I got an appointment for two days after the date I called. I went to the doctor's and to my surprise my medical insurance has be canceled. So this leaves me in a dilema. I still feel the constant movements and I even had my hand on my stomach and felt what felt like a kick and a baby changing postions. I CONSTANTLY feel pressure in the lower part of my stomach and I have to pee A LOT. I have been having terrible backaches, nausea, and headaches like you wouldn't believe. After the Mirena was placed in my period completely stopped, however I 've been spotting and it's a bright reddish color. I went through all of this when I was pregnant with my daughter. So of coarse this all leads me to believe that I am pregnant and from the feel of it I am far along. I am scared that I am pregnant because I am only 20 and I am not ready for another baby, my daughter is a blessing and a joy to have and I am pretty sure another baby will be to, however MONEY is a major issue.

Has anyone else had this problem????????????? If so where you pregnant???????? Please Help!!!!!!!

I have been reading up on Mirena
- Spotting can occour even if not pregnant.
- Around 1 in 100 users become pregnant ( if the ststs are to be believed)
- Pregnancies can be normal and healthy, but there is an increaced risk of defects and miscariage.

Carifairy, you say only one in 500,000 get pregnant with mirrena. Look at all of the posts on here saying that they got pregnant on it, I dont thing it adds up.

I can't trust the stats and feel conned because I hated getting mine fitted. It has made sex uncomfortable, and they wont cut the strings.

And now my husband thinks i am pregnant. I said not to waste money and time with a test, but after researching Mirena online I think a test may be wise.

A baby would be fine by us, I can deal with that. What makes ne sick is the high possibility of miscariage. Doctos shouldn't mess with peoples lives using technology that is not ready yet.

Maybe this is really late
I'm on the Mirena now, after my 3rd child. I have been on it a little over a year. Lately, I've been feeling very sick at times and abnormally exhausted. I also have major cravings (I'm not jumping to conclusions as I know my patterns in pregnancy as I've had 3 already) I am worried I'm pregnant...this isn't so bad as we've been talking about having another, but since I still have the IUD, it's scary.

I haven't taken a pregnancy test- but my husband is in med school right now, preparing to become an OB/GYN. He has learned some disturbing stuff since I got the IUD- it isn't actually as effective as they say. It's supposed to be like 1 in 50000 that get pregnant. It's more like 1 in 450. Very disturbing. Anyway- that's info for all of you from a guy in med school learning to be an OB/GYN.

My first two children were conceived through IVF and a suprise #3 was conceived naturally. After the third my Dr. suggested Mirena, and I agreed. I've had it in for about a year and half. About the last week or so, I've been nauseous, lower back pain, and today some slight spotting. My nurse had me check for the strings, and from what I can tell, it seems OK. Of course once you start reading posts like these, your head starts to play tricks on you and I just hate to waste the time, energy, and money on a test if the likely hood is so unlikely. BTW, my chiro said that people can be more fertile after chiro care, and I've been working out. Which is what I believed help me conceive my third child. I'm still waiting for the nurse to call me back with what my next step should be. I'm sure it's nothing but it's sure is something how we as women always work ourselves up by sometimes "overthinking" the situation. Hormones!

Update: I spoke with the nurse and she said that as long as I could feel my strings I shouldn't worry. She said they've only had issues when the iud was not in place correctly or the strings were not felt. For some reason that hasn't eased my mind. Maybe I'll wait it out a couple of days and see if the nausea goes away and it's not just a flu bug.

Pregnant
Well I have had the Mirena for two years now and I just found out today that I am pregnant, I have an appointment next week to see if the baby is okay (which I hope is) but it is quite nerve racking. I wasn't trying to get pregnant, I mean hence the mirena, but I guess stuff happens. I hope there aren't that many complications, as I read on the internet that there can be.

sooooo, okay here goes, i have used the mirena iud for four years, had them switched and replace twice, once for weird tissue discharge, and second because of cramps and couldnt feel strings, i have never had a period as long as a mirena was in place, in four years, however just recently, i have been profusely tired, weak, sick to my stomach, headache everyday, and maaajooor weight gain on just my abdomen and my weight is horribly hard to manage, unless i eat nothing but salad my weight jumps up to 165 and i am only 5'6, so i think from reading all these posts, side effects are definitely common as far as missed periods, weakness, tiredness, abdomen weight gain and sore breasts, and i have swore i was pregnant twice, but the mirena just often makes you look and feel that way, i am thinking about getting it removed permanently because the weight gain and headaches are just too much for me, my man thinks i should get a hpt this time though because of my stomach weight gain and shape, i dont know, .....

mirena complications/ bcp and possible pregnancy
Mirena does give alot of women different symptoms. some severe. some not. i gave birth to my first child back in dec. at my 6th week check up i got mirena. i had the longest periods in my life. 10 to 12 days staight every month. my husband was on deployment during this time so i thought it would be fine by the time he got home. i started getting very sick, vomitting, aches, pains, severe headaches everyday, swelling in feet and hands, tingling in hands, all of which i had before husband got home. in april after my husband got hoome all the symptoms were still there, but got worse, more heavy bleeding, pain and bleeding during and after sex. weight gain, so i have decided to get mirena taken out. so last month i got it taken out. and all the symptoms are gone. i feel so much better, but now i have a problem, i decided that i was going to go back to bcp after i got mirena taken out. the doctor told me to wait until after my next cycle to start taking the bcp, so i did.. during that time and the next week my husband and i used condoms. i haven't missed one day of my pills. i was about an hour late one day but thats it. i take it everyday at 12pm, an alarm on my cell is set to remind me to take it, but now i am gettting weird symptoms, i have been getting nauseaed, dizzy, and somewhat of cramping, i'm not sure if this would point to pregnancy or not. im afaid to say anything to my husband. our son in only 6 months old and we were planning on our next child, but not this early. i can't go to the store to get a hpt because he goes where ever i go. what do you think i should do?? im scared!!
